How It Works
With Press & Clear, we recognise that blemish-prone skin IS sensitive skin. Overloading the skin, particularly sensitive, blemish-prone skin, with high strength blemish treatments can result in an impaired skin barrier. Skin becomes susceptible to damage, inflammation and further breakouts. At Medik8, we intricately formulated Press & Clear to deliver incredible results with daily use, whilst supporting the skin barrier to maintain a healthy complexion.
1. Maximum strength BHA (2%) salicylic acid is oil soluble and able to penetrate deep into pores to break down blockages which can lead to blemishes and congestion. Our blemish hero, it promotes a visibly decongested, clarified complexion. Salicylic acid is optimally delivered with our gentle-release, crystal encapsulation system. This slowly releases the salicylic acid to avoid any discomfort on sensitive, vulnerable skins, whilst maintaining power.
2. Press & Clear has a very skin-friendly pH of ~5.5. Whilst other exfoliating acids, such as AHAs, require low pHs to work on the skin, salicylic acid is special as it is an effective exfoliant at both low and more neutral pHs. Our balanced pH contributes to the non-stinging, gentle experience when using Press & Clear.
3. Brightening active, tranexamic acid, works to visibly even the skin tone, minimising the appearance of stubborn post-blemish marks and imperfections.
4. Sake extract and aloe vera soothe and hydrate the skin, offsetting any dryness that has occurred during and post-blemish. The skin barrier is nourished and supported; resilient to future breakouts.
How To Use
1. Unlock by twisting the top half of the pump anti-clockwise until it clicks to activate.
2. After cleansing in the morning and/or evening, hold a facial pad (reusable is best) firmly over Press & Clear and push down 3-4 times.
3. Sweep the pad over the complexion, avoiding the delicate eye area.
4. Twist the pump clockwise until it clicks to secure. Store out of direct sunlight.
5. We advise new users to apply once a day and note the skin’s response, then use up to twice daily.

The Science Behind

“The Press & Clear formula has an optimised pH of ~5.5, to remain aligned with the natural pH of the skin ensuring a comfortable experience when using the toner.

Many other BHA toners use low pHs, to follow the traditional theory that for an exfoliating acid to work, it requires a low pH to ‘activate’ within the skin. This is true for many acids, such as glycolic acid and gluconolactone. However, salicylic acid is unique in that it is proven to be just as effective an exfoliation agent at a neutral pH, as it has at a low pH.

Hence, in Press & Clear we use a more neutral pH of 5.5 to match that of skin; retaining the power of the salicylic acid while leaving it more suitable for sensitive, blemish-prone skin types. Our non-stinging, balanced pH formula is proven to deliver an incredibly soothing and refreshing experience on delicate, blemish-prone skins.”
